We all know motivation is a big thing, yet some of us are still sitting there wondering why other people have been able to maintain the progress they’ve made while you still struggle.
Just taking a guess here, but the cause is probably a lack of motivation. Quite simply those individuals who still seem to be making progress have a solid understanding of their motivation. Motivation will help pull you through many of the points of struggle that we tend to have throughout our fitness journey.
Identifying Your Motivator
Motivation will help you get through many things. But how do you know if your motivator is strong enough?
Motivation won’t let you “Snooze just one more time”
Snacking because “You need to” Won’t be a thing anymore
You’ll feel invigorated by the thought of a hard workout
Motivation keeps you accountable
If this isn’t where you are, take a look below for some tips to track down and solidify that motivation.
Narrow In
The easiest way to narrow in on your motivation is to have a goal in mind that you can focus on.
If you want to lose weight, take some time to sit down and really figure out the reason you want to lose that weight. If you say “I want to look hot” that’s not the true motivation, dig deeper. Your true motivation may be something closer to “I want to lose weight, get to my college physique and take back confidence” being able to dig through your thoughts and figure out the true root cause will allow you to grab hold of your motivation.
Set It In Stone
By this I mean figure out a way to solidify your motivation in your mind. The best way to do this is to write that motivation down. So take a minute and write that motivation down on some index cards or sticky notes. Once that’s done, post those all over the house in areas that you will be sure to see them.
By putting that motivation in visible places you’ll cause your mind to create an image of that motivation. Each time you see this motivator, take a few minutes to actually visualize and picture how you look once you’ve hit that goal.
Make A Game Plan
At this point, you know what you want now you need to figure out exactly how to get there. While planning this out, you need to be very practical and methodical in the route that you use.
Plan a routine that will challenge you and keep you consistent, in addition to that you need to ensure that you have a diet worked out that fits within your plan.
Ask for Help
If you find that you’re having a hard time sticking to your goals even though you’ve narrowed in on that motivation, it never hurts to ask for help.
Tell those of you that care about you what your goal is. By telling those that you care about your goal you’ll end up getting some external help to keep you motivated and accountable.
If you still can’t lock in that motivation, the best option is to enlist the help of someone like me. Your personal trainer. Together we’ll be able to figure out the huge motivator that you need.
