Beat The Plateau

Ahhhh, the dreaded plateau. That moment when all of your hard work seems like it isn’t making a difference anymore. It happens to everyone at some point.

Hitting a plateau is easily one of the most frustrating places during your fitness journey. But luckily for you there are a few things you can do that will make getting off of that evil place easier.

Get More Sleep

This is by far the area that I’ve seen the biggest improvement with. Your body does the most healing and growth during your sleep cycles. On top of that, getting less sleep and therefore being fatigued or tired during the day has a shockwave effect within your fitness journey.

If you’re tired, you’re typically less likely to actually get up and go to the gym.

Making things worse, being sleep deprived has been shown to slow your metabolism down. Which is the exact opposite of what we’re looking for right?

Drink Water!

You’re probably staring at the screen right now thinking “I DO drink water”. I’m sure you do, but I’m not talking about drinking a gallon of water a day here. What I mean is to drink nothing but water throughout your entire day. No, it probably isn’t going to be the most enjoyable, but we’re all adults here and we can handle a little discomfort from time to time.

Seriously though, drinking nothing but water is a great way to boost your system and restart your results. Especially if you’re addicted to sodas or sugar filled juices, this goes for alcohol as well. I know you enjoy all of that, but those all eventually turn in to sugar which keeps you stuck where you are.

Cut the Sugar Intake!

In addition to the above, cutting out any additional processed sugars in your diet will make a huge impact on your plateau. I’d honestly even include natural sugars such as maple syrup and honey in this list, at least for a while.

Now, if you’ve already cut all sugar from your diet but you still feel like you’ve plateaued and nothing above works. Try cutting out sugary fruits.

Eat Healthier Breakfasts You’re probably already eating a healthy breakfast, but maybe it’s time to switch it up a little bit. Why not try eating a low carb breakfast that’s packed with protein. It’s important to ensure you get a breakfast in, as this is going to signal your body to jumpstart the metabolism for the day.

Do More Intense Exercise

If all of the tips above haven’t seemed to make a difference, why not try kicking your workouts up to the next level? Stop going through the motions and leaving the gym “Comfortably”.

Push yourself for the entire workout, when you leave the gym it should be a struggle to even lift your legs to take that next step. If you’re taking this seriously and you really want to get off that plateau, make it a priority to absolutely destroy each and every workout.  If you’re already doing all of this and you find yourself still stuck on a plateau. You deserve a lifestyle plan that gets you to your health goals.
