Make The Most Of YOUR 2020

We’ve had a good start to 2020 so far, and now that we’re here I figured this was the best time to have a conversation about making the most of it!

So how do we do this?

Well, there are many ways that you can go about making the most of your 2020 to have a super successful and rewarding year. I’ll put some of the tips that I’ve been using to kick this year off right. Just so we’re clear, these are not my tips. They are actually a process created by Dr. Maxwell Maltz. You can read more about it in his book “Psycho-Cybernetics"

Harness Your Imagination

Your imagination is a wildly powerful and wonderful thing to leverage in your pursuit of growth and self-improvement.

Dr. Maltz stated that the key to yourself image is to change your actions and habits. Basically, if you want to lose 50 pounds the best thing to do to ensure you get there is to reframe your self-image and view yourself as someone who is 50 pounds lighter.

It goes further than that though, you can’t stop at just viewing yourself as 50 pounds lighter. You need to harness that imagination and experience a whole day in your life as if you were that 50 pounds lighter.

By doing this you will begin to change your self-image to that of a person who is lighter and your actions and habits will begin to start reflecting this.

Avoid Negative Thoughts

Negative thoughts will always tend to come to the surface when you’re trying to reframe how you view yourself. The key here is this; as soon as that negative thought shows its head, dismiss it. Don’t spend any time on it at all.

If you can master the act of negative thought dismissal, they’ll end up making less of an impact on your self-image.

Future Nostalgia

This one resonated with me quite highly.

Dr. Maltz suggested showing a sense of nostalgia for the future instead of for the past. If you can hone in on the act of “futuristic nostalgia” you’ll make it easier for your imagination to lock on to that picture of you as the happy healthy more slimmed down version of yourself.

The past has already come and gone, so why does being nostalgic about the past have any place in your life? Especially when your future is still being written?

Reframe.... You

This means pretty much exactly what you think it means. View yourself in a different light. Paint a different picture of yourself.

Here’s a few examples.

Instead of saying: “I’m the kind of person who loves to eat sweets” say: “I’m the kind of person that eats fresh, crisp food”

Think about moments in your life where you could apply this kind of reframe. How can that change your life in a positive way in the future?

If you can start to reframe yourself and how you think about yourself, your self-image will start to fulfill that label.

The power to your future is truly in your hands. Make the most of it this year!
