Meal Hacks For Fat-Loss

There’s a word up above, yes right up there in the title. A word that has been used quite often lately, in almost every type of article you search for. Yes, I’m using it, and yes, it’s the word ‘hack’. But what exactly is a hack?

A few things actually, a hack could be;

  • Someone who does a poor job at something and takes shortcuts

  • to cut with heavy blows

  • the act of breaking in to a computer.

Lately, a new definition has been created. A hack, as we’re talking about it today is, simply; a shortcut.  So, what exactly is a meal hack for fat loss? Well, it’s a few tips that I’ve found to make simple changes to your meals so that you can promote fat loss and help block fat storage!

My New Favorite

Cauliflower Rice

Yep, that’s right. I’m in love with this stuff! It’s so versatile, you can eat it cold or warm, by itself or mixed in to another meal. When you’re making your next meal instead of reaching for that white or brown rice, substitute shredded, sautéed cauliflower as rice.

This small change could save you hundreds of calories per meal, and leave you feeling just as satisfied as the rice would have. The best part is, you can season it with spices and other flavors just as you would with rice! My favorite? A little bit of low sodium, low fat chicken broth added as I’m cooking it, and a little bit of toasted sesame seeds.

The Underdog

Spaghetti Squash This glorious vegetable has changed my life, honestly. Noodles / Pasta were something I cut out of my diet right at the start, and although I didn’t eat it often, it was a meal that was missed. When I learned about Spaghetti Squash all these years ago, it was amazing. If you haven’t taken the time to cook up one of these little gems, give it a shot. There’s easy to make, flavorful and the “noodles” can be added to any traditional noodle dish to save a whole bunch of unhealthy fats!

The Overlooked

Lettuce Wraps Typically overlooked because there's really no nutritional value, lettuce has a hidden power. Holding together that glorious sandwich you just made! Also, great to help cut down on fats if you’ve just made a healthy burger, but still want to keep fats as low as possible!

The Baking Secret

Protein Powder

Yep, protein powder! Planning to make some pancake for breakfast over the weekend? Substitute half of the flour for protein powder, you’ll cut down on carbs and you’ll raise your protein intake! Win Win!!

The Naturalist

Natural Sweeteners Replace all that unhealthy refined sugar in your pantry with some all-natural sweeteners; Honey, coconut sugar, pure maple syrup are all great replacements. We all know the benefits of cutting back on processed and refined food products, but on top of that you’ll intake less calories and your body is more able to process the sugars, so you store less as fat!

The Ole-Standby

Water Literally nothing will make a bigger impact on your fat loss / reducing fat storage than drinking water. Replace all those sugary unhealthy high calorie drinks with water. If you’re one of the many people around the world who seem to live off of a solid intake of soda, then switching to drinking water will give you the most life changing results in the shortest amount of time possible.
