There are a decent number of things that we can control in our lives, some big some small. It’s true that the human mind is a powerful thing, but there are certain things that we cannot control. The biggest thing that we honestly and truly do not control is our weight.
I know you’re probably looking at me (or the screen) like I’m crazy, but just humor me for a second here.
Get on your scale, take a look at your weight, and then take control of your weight and tell the scale that you’ve lost 5 pounds.
Hmmm, didn’t work did it? Weight stayed the same?
I know, silly little trick. The point is, we spend so much time obsessing over our weight, almost like we actually have control over it with our thoughts.
Sadly, our weight is not controlled by our thoughts. Not directly at least. The good news here is this; you do have control over a few important things that have a large influence on your weight. What I mean here is that you have control over your choices to exercise or not exercise, you have control over eating healthy or not.
Your weight may not be controlled by your thoughts, but the things that contribute to your weight are certainly controlled by your thoughts.
So, here’s the question: If you were to stand in front of a full-length mirror right now and take a good hard look at yourself, how do you feel about the current state of your body? What you’re looking it is the result of the choices you’ve had control over for the last couple of years. Not enthused about what you’re seeing?
Ok, let’s make a change. It all starts now, with something that you can control: The choice to continue reading the rest of this post!
Here are some simple suggestions that (believe it or not) will make a noticeable impact on your weight.
Choices You Make About What You Eat
I choose to eat whole foods, that support my body and promote health
I choose to eat only when hungry, and not to over eat
I choose to remove junk food, sweets and candies, and sugar filled drink from my diet
I choose to eat fresh fruits and vegetables every day
Choices You Make About How You Exercise
I choose to get up an hour earlier every day, so I can invest time exercising to get the body I desire
I choose to consistently exercise, sticking to my schedule, and prioritizing the importance of my exercise
I choose to change my routine frequently, so that I can keep my muscle guessing and promote growth
I choose to give my all when performing my exercise
I choose to never feel like I could have given more effort
Stop obsessing over your weight, as we discovered earlier, you can’t control it anyway. Focus all of that energy and thought in to things that you can actually control. Choose to make the right decisions with your food and exercise routines.
