HOW HAS YOUR BODY CHANGED SINCE GIVING BIRTH?

Y'all if I told you my body changed after giving birth would you believe me? How would you think it changed?

June (pre-pregnancy)

If I told you mine did the EXACT opposite of what 90% of women tell you your body will do postpartum would you believe me? Scrolling through my phone tonight I found some photos from right before I got pregnant. Before Rei I was on a mission to get “THICK” I was trying to gain about 15 pounds and was only 1 pound away from the 15 I had been trying to gain. I was in a bulking phase - in summer which is totally not like me because I always want to be cut for the summer lol - because I so badly wanted to increase muscle mass and really build my lower body. So the first photo was in June (pre-pregnancy), the second photo is July (pre-pregnancy), the third photo is July (very early in pregnancy only 1-2 weeks after conception). By July I had been bulking and lifting HEAVY for a little over 12 weeks. I was STRUGGLING with my legs being so “fat” … or so I thought! In this photo I was weighing in at 164 pounds which was 14 pounds over my usual 150 (this is where I usually float)

FAST FORWARD

I have Rei, and by now (13 months postpartum) I am weighing in at 140 on average! Which is a whopping 24 pounds lighter than I was when I got pregnant. Now I am still measuring in 4% higher in body fat than I was per pregnancy AND feel as though I have WAY less muscle. I almost feel like I CANNOT keep muscle on after having him. I still breastfeed and feel as though maybe that is part of the reason that I am continuing to lose weight. I am NOT trying to lose weight and am almost hurt when people call me “skinny” as fit is what I am going for not “skinny”. BUT with that being said, your body can change. My ENTIRE frame is smaller than before I got pregnant. My waist is measuring 1 inch less than it was when I first got pregnant. Yet I feel as though it looks bigger. My thighs are measuring 3 inches smaller and my glutes about 3 inches smaller as well.

YOUR POSTPARTUM BODY WILL NOT BE THE SAME.

And that is OKAY! Through this journey I have learned to truly love myself and my body for what it is. I love and appreciate EVERY single change. I am WORKING MY ASS OFF (literally .. maybe that's why it wont grow back (Ha Ha Ha) to get these results! I have come so far, not just physically but emotionally and most importantly MENTALLY. I LOVE my body. It is okay to love your body and still want to change it. I am AMAZED at what the human body is capable of and you should be too! I want to treat my body and my mind with the utmost respect. Because I respect my body I strive to keep it in the best possible shape. STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS! EMBRACE THE CHANGES IN YOUR BODY! Remember YOU ARE A MOM! You kick ass! And you can achieve anything you put your mind to. So the next time you get on yourself about your “body change” since giving birth, remember EVERY MOTHER GOES THROUGH IT. Whether she can’t hold weight, loses too much, or can't lose weight, and gains to much. YOUR BODY CHANGES AND THAT IS OKAY! It is your response to that change that will make the difference!

PEACE LOVE & HAPPINESS. LOVE THE SKIN YOU'RE IN. #BBTE
