Sleepy Mama Post - Want An Amazing Energy Boost?

Hi guys how are you today? So I am dying one I am so hungry and two I am exhausted. I was so unbelievably tired last night that I laid down in bed around 10:00. I then slept all the way through till this morning around 7:50 when Rei woke up! Thank god he is starting to get into a real sleep schedule! Although, there is such thing as oversleeping so I think that might be part of it as well. Allergy season is among us. GREAT!!! I can already feel my allergies starting to act up. Today I wanted to share with you guys what I do as a source of energy first thing in the morning on days I'm exhausted, but also when I need mental clarity and focus, and even sometimes as a  pre-workout since I no longer take any supplements (for pre-workout) since having Rei.

I wrote this post to explain how to get that incredible energy boost I talked about in the title! But before doing so there are a few things we need to talk about. First, let's talk about coffee!

Coffee is the second most traded commodity on the earth! I am sure all of you can imagine why!! We as human beings are constantly on the go we never slow down and rest. Instead, we say, "Rest, who needs that?" Guess what guys you do! So the coffee contains caffeine and caffeine can take about 15 or 20 minutes to kick in and depending on the person and the effects last anywhere between 8 to 14 hours. So one cup (8 oz.) of brewed coffee has approximately 95 mg of caffeine in it. The average coffee drinker drinks about 3.1 cups per day! If I told you I could cut that down to 1-1.5 cups per day what would you say? The coffee we use is Death Wish Coffee, never will I ever buy another type of coffee, it is SO freaking good!

Now the average drinker might drink 3.1 cups of coffee per day, but what about you folks who are having three medium coffees a day which is about 20 oz rather than just 8. That is a LOT of caffeine, plus you get that nasty crash once the caffeine wears off.

Now let's look at MCT oil. MCT oil is digested very easily, and they're sent directly to your liver. In the liver, they have a thermogenic effect, increasing your metabolism. The body can use them as energy or fuel rather than storing it as fat. Many people don't know, but certain saturated fats like MCT oil are easier for your body to digest, meaning it stores less of it as fat. It also contains antioxidant properties that could help with heart health, obesity prevention, and brain health. MCT oil is found in coconut oil, so sometimes I use coconut oil rather than MCT oil (for pricing reasons as well as flavor reasons), but you also have to be careful with it, because obviously too much of something isn't good for you either. Roughly 65% of the fatty acids in coconut oil are MCT's. MCT's can be found in MCT oil, coconut oil, butter (grass fed), cheeses, palm oil, whole milk, and full-fat yogurt.

Lastly, let's talk about grass-fed butter. Butter contains CLA which helps to reduce belly fat. It also helps protect against cancer and supports muscle growth. It contains vitamin A which is good for your thyroid, adrenal and cardiovascular health. It also contains antioxidants, vitamin D, vitamin E, vitamin K-2 and more! Lastly, it contains the nutrients magnesium, zinc, copper, iodine, selenium, lecithin, and more!

Now, what is the correlation between the three of these things? You're going to put your grass-fed butter and coconut oil in your morning cup of coffee!!! I know I know it sounds crazy! When my husband first told me about it about 4 years ago now, I thought he was nuts. What he said was "it is something that the guys and I used to do before patrols when he was on deployments (while in the Marine Corps)." Naturally, I responded with "oh another crazy marine habit, welp it sounds gross."

Months passed, and I started seeing it as something other bodybuilders did because just plain coffee wasn't enough, or they wanted to cut back on their pre-workout and other various reasons. So I decided, I wanted to try it. Upon telling my husband, he laughed and said, "I thought it sounded gross."

**Insert eye roll here**

So we went to the supermarket and got the stuff. That next morning before my morning cardio I tried it. OH MY GOODNESS! First, I will say I had more energy than the fat burners or pre-workouts have given me, without the side effects. I had energy for about 5/6 hours with NO crash. I always get the jitters, nausea or some side effect from those energy products never fails, so finally finding something that doesn't give me the side effects was pretty impressive!

Since having Rei, I have continued this tradition/version of pre-workout because I refuse to ingest products that I do not know what half the ingredients are while breastfeeding. I make sure to schedule this coffee after a feeding or a minimum of 2-4 hours prior to his next feeding. For example, I usually drink this around 4:45/5:00 and don't feed him his morning feeding until about 8:00 am.

Here is how I make mine:

16 oz brew coffee Death Wish Organic Coffee

1 Tablespoon MCT Oil

1 Tablespoon Grass Fed Butter

Directions: Simply add all the ingredients above into a blender and blend! It will come out light, and sort of frothy like! That is normal, and now enjoy!

Let me know how this works for you guys! Love you all, have a blessed day!

PEACE LOVE & HAPPINESS. LOVE THE SKIN YOU'RE IN. #BBTE
